The Mission Hall formed the second part of a low-cost three phase community regeneration project to create arts facilities and managed workspace in a deprived area adjacent to
Liverpool’s centre centre. Toxteth TV was the first phase and the Windsor Street school completes the triangle of premises designed to allow small creative industries to flourish.
The change of use of the former religious premises meant accessibility was key. As was the need to reintegrate the building with the street. Behind the more open façade sits a stepped arrangement of small offices partitioned with opening polycarbonate screens. Designed to encourage a sociable environment, all managed workspace units can be opened onto the communal
areas. A new mezzanine level occupies the interesting roof space to increase
the building’s capacity.
